Today was a tough day for Türkiye. The most powerful earthquake since 1939 has left people in 10 cities in the southeast searching through the rubble for loved ones, dead or alive. Already people I know have heard that they have lost cousins and friends or that they are still under the collapsed buildings. Collapsed because builders have not followed building codes in large part. But the quake at 7.7 also brought down a significant part of the Gaziantep Castle, a citadel that has stood since the 6th Century. Tonight’s photo shows the hedge under a crying, dark sky.
