The Stinkwood Forest

E decided to take a day for herself and left us boys to tour the north west of the island, Roam having a list of sites he wanted to visit. There was a lot of driving on twisty mountain roads, which he rather enjoys. We popped into Porto Moniz and Seixal, where we timed our lunch stop for the start of the Notts Forest v Leeds game, which Roam soon had them showing on the TV. It turned out the barman is a Leeds supporter. I love the way football connects people from all over the world. Unfortunately, it didn't bring us any luck. We left at half-time, 1-0 to the home side and things looking ominous.It turned out to be a good decision!

We then headed back via the mountains, taking in yet another levada walk and then the stinkwood forest at Fanal. As we both expected and wanted, it was shrouded in thick fog. It was also very cold. Roam and I barely saw the sun all day. E had a very sunny day. It's an island of extreme microclimates.
