Painswick church and graveyard with yew trees
After Helena's party last night today we celebrated the actual birthday, rather quietly. I made breakfast for us both, which we aren't able to have together most days. Then we headed off to Painswick to follow a walk Helena had wanted to do ever since she found it described in a booklet of 'local walks'.
It started with us parking in a pub car park, walking down into the valley via the churchyard, finding the old village stocks and then following a circular route on footpaths leading out of the town and onto some fields. All in all it was relatively easy, especially for me as I have trouble walking because of arthritis.
As we returned to the pub we followed the very old Edge Lane into the town centre which was an old route to the church. I grabbed this view as the lack of leaves gives a view not available for the rest of the year.
I've added an 'Extra' of Helena voluntarily trying out the stocks. She didn't like the experience, unsurprisingly.
