Shuggie

This £30,000 steel-plated sculpture has recently appeared at Dyekehead in the town of Shotts.

The 8ft-high statue is called "The Giant", and was designed by sculptor Jason Paterson. It is an iron foundry worker representing a bit of local history.

Of course these artworks often get a different name from locals. When I was taking the picture a nice lady came up to me and said "Oh I see you've met Shuggie!". Yes, I checked and found he is indeed known locally as Shuggie.

Just home briefly, so quickly sorting my Blip and then out for an Italian meal followed by a concert - bit of nostalgia.
