Syrphid fly

Taking a bit of a gamble here by naming this as a Syrphid fly as I really don't know anything about insects. However I've had a look around the net and the image that seemed to me to look the closest to my photo was titled 'Syrphid Flies'.

Apparently they are also sometimes called Hover flies and they are one of the good guys in the garden as they eat aphids.

If I am wrong, please let me know so I can correct it.
