Loki, God of Mischief (Wednesday 8 February 2023)

Last time I visited Loki I didn't get any pictures, so here he is for the first time in over a month, with the assistance of the on-camera flash.
If you like still lifes there's an onion in Extras, because why not? No flash this time.

Dionne Warwick - Trains and Boats and Planes (1966)
R.I.P. Burt Bacharach (12 May 1928, Kansas City MO - 8 February 2023,
Los Angeles CA)
One of the great 20th century songwriters, also superb arranger and producer, with an enormous catalogue of memorable songs, often written with lyricist Hal David, and often sung by Dionne Warwick. In the sixties her singles were often sought after by British managers and producers for their own artists to cover, and she had good cause to grumble about Sandie Shaw, Cilla Black and Dusty Springfield who all had hits with her catalogue.
I chanced to hear this timeless song by Dionne Warwick on Radio 6 last weekend and was taken by how sophisticated and creative it was compared to the British hit by Billy J Kramer and the Dakotas in 1965, which I took to be a cover of her version,  but it turns out her recording was made the following year. It was a single that later appeared on her album Here, Where There Is Love. The original, in fact, was by Burt Bacharach himself, early in 1965, after the song had been turned down by Gene Pitney as not being good enough!
