Hot day exploring magnetic island.

Had a quiet morning before catching the bus across the island to the forts walk. Hiked up the hill to see the WW2 fortifications and views over the island. I saw my first wild koala!

After that I continued hiking down to Arcadia. On the way I got stung by a tiny caterpillar, but it was only as bad as a nettle sting. I also stopped off for a couple of hours at this beautiful swimming hole. Great to switch off, and listen to and watch the water. The water and the air was warm enough to spend the whole of the time sitting in a very small waterfall nook.

Did a small additional loop to a spot known for rock wallabies and did see one of them. Like the koalas the rest are probably sheltering from the heat or sleeping.

Bus back to the backpackers and a very relaxed end to the day.
