Not the best quality
After taking an age to have my Grampas picture renovated I’m so happy to have it home. Taken in 1915 when he was 17. A country boy plunged into the trenches in the Lanarkshire Yeomanry whilst fighting in Palestine.
As typical of men of his age, they never spoke of the war. This picture hung in every house he lived in as a married man. My Auntie told me the other day she remembers clearly them bringing it home on a Hogmanay night when she was about six from her Granny’s. Granny had decided he was finally a man. My grampa held her hand all the way home, 2 miles in the dark, with the picture under his arm. She says she’s never been more proud.
