The 'Windy Gowl' Glacial Meltwater Channel
2nd Saturday Strollers today - and we were over on the far-Western edge of The Pentlands, walking The 'Windy Gowl' Glacial Meltwater Channel :-)
You can read a lot more about the main channel, and its quite remarkable glacial-features, via this link ...
... we entered the channel from the edge of Carlops, and the main snap shows the view looking back towards the village, as taken from very near the top of the channel. The extra shows some of the group, just as we reached the top, and paused for a very welcome lunchtime rest! After eventually exiting the channel, we were able to follow a good footpath all the way back to Carlops.
And from there, the nearby Flotterstone Inn, and some liquid refreshment, beckoned - before we returned to the virtual metropolis of Edinburgh ;-)
A most enjoyable day.
