A mask from Bali

Balinese culture is based on a mix of Buddhist and primarily Hindu beliefs. 

I'd always wanted to visit Bali since I was a kid watching programmes in black and white on my parents' TV. I got the opportunity in December 1992 when we stopped off for just a few days on the way to visit Len's brother in Australia. Rosie and I tried to absorb as much as possible of the culture. I'd read that much of it had been fostered in the 1930s to encourage tourism.

I've always preferred the Balinese demon masks to those sold to tourists in Sri Lanka.
