keep on

An uneventful day, mostly doing nothing in particular until this evening when I finally started working on the new painting I've been thinking about this week, using acrylics on a large canvas rather than my usual water colours in a sketch book.  The driver is the need to comment on the earthquake and I want the solid colours that acryllic paints will give.

Today's photo is from my 1980 sketchbook which I found a few days ago.  As soon as I saw this sketch I remember being disappointed with my rusty skills, (hence the title), it had at the time, been a while since I'd done any still life drawing. Still working on it 42 years later, but at least in my dotage I'm more tolerant of my inadequacies and absurdly willing to keep on keeping on :)
