Cherubic

A hectic but really enjoyable couple of days. Today we headed off towards Rathkeale in County Limerick but of course managed to stop at a couple of wells on the way. The first was in Glanworth where we met up with Ailish and Aisling who wanted to come with us to St Dominic's Well. This is right down on the river but there's currently a dispute about access. We sallied forth and admired what we could see of the well now covered in brambles. It's a unique site for not only does it have a well it also has a pilgrim's shelter - a strange tall sort of tower, built by a local eccentric who liked to wear a wicker tiara on Sundays - don't we all!  This too is completely covered but we manged to fight our way in and gasp and rant that it was all so neglected. Extra of Aiish and Aisling in the shelter.  As we were leaving, I managed to fall onto my knees in the wettest muddiest area imaginable - jeans, bag, mac - destroyed! Luckily I know myself and had fortunately packed another pair of leggings. The girls led me off tot he church behind which was a loo where I could change. A massive funeral was going on in the church and the blokes were all outside smoking and looking furtive, as tends to happen, and were highly interested in what was going on.
Thus restored we carried on, stopping off in Kildorrey for something to eat. We had a groundhog day experience of having ended up in the small supermarket before and bought the same sandwiches. We also ate them in the same graveyard next to St Mologa's well!  This cheeky chap was in the graveyard. 
Refreshed and on to our hotel which had massive beds and a bath - I availed!  Then on to the talk,  A slight hiccup as when we arrived there was no power. Somebody had put some heaters in to warm up the hall and they had short circuited everything! A slight panic until the trip switch was found. A big audience and a very welcoming and interested one and the talk went well thank goodness with lots of information coming in afterwards. In fact someone went off with my notes!
