Caught on film
We had good intentions of going for a long walk this morning but we looked at the rather grey, cold and damp day and both decided we'd rather stay put. I did a few things indoors and then watched the rugby so it's a case of digging out the props for a blip today.
This was, apart from a tiny one that would fit in a shirt pocket, my last film camera. People looking at it think it's a video camera but it's actually a half frame 35mm. I didn't really get 'in' to photography until it went digital, so my pictures tended to be limited to holiday snaps and days out. Being half frame you could get twice as many shots out of a roll of film and the quality was surprisingly good. However, it didn't survive duneboarding in Namibia; sliding down a 300 metre high sand dune at speed on a sheet of plywood with a length of string attached to the front isn't the most stable or controllable thing to do and whilst the soft sand prevented any physical injuries, sand and camera mechanisms don't mix. It's not worked since.
In case anyone is interested enough in old cameras, it's a Yashica Samurai X30.
