She's Back!
I was pleasantly surprised to spot the Barred Owl in the tree outside my kitchen window again this morning. I'm referring to her as "she" because she looks quite large. In a few weeks I'll know a whole lot more about owl identification and breeding behaviors, because Suzanne and I have voluteered for a county conservation program as Raptor Breeding Monitors. After some online coursework and a meeting, we will be set loose to walk the trails a minimum of twice a month, completing survey forms. Perhaps after this experience I won't have such a difficult time differentiating between the local hawk species.
