Lynnie

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellow,

Having friends at work makes a big difference. Obviously I discovered this in a big way in 2021 and quite honestly it changed my life for the better.

Caro also seems be enjoying her life lately and it's a joy for me. There are many contributing factors of course, but I have been remiss in not reporting one of the most significant - "Lynnie".

Lynnie is a genuinely funny, kind and very practical northern woman who works in the Edinburgh office of Caro's employers. Caro and Lynnie talk about 3 or 4 times a week at around 9 or 10pm for work meetings.

Well.

I say "work".

It is usually innuendo, husband-mockery, office gossip, stories about friends and family, husband-mockery, chat about hair, tv recommendations and husband-mockery.

"I need to know how the camping trip went," said Lynnie.

"You should have seen the state of it," replied Caro.

Caro turned her laptop around and I told my sorry tale of woe.

Lynnie was sympathetic.

Then Lynnie told a story about HER weekend which was both horrific and funny but sadly I can't repeat it because it's a bit private. Suffice to say it was so good that I had to ask Lynnie to pause while I left the room because I was listening along with Caro.

It's a bit sad that one of Caro's best mates is someone she has never met in person. But maybe one day we will. Either Lynnie and Damien will come over and stay with us or vice-versa.

Lynnie was definitely the high point of a cold day that saw us mainly preparing for an imminent cyclone. Caro brought in some plants and I put the fire on for the cats.

"Stay dry and warm," said Lynnie.

You too, Lynnie.

p.s. Caro took this picture of DG doing her morning yoga.
