Heading home
A hectic day as our mini holiday ends. We woke to find that S had gone to work and R was swimming, the 3 musketeers were holding the fort.
R returned, made breakfast and was ready to start work by 9am. We headed out to investigate the area, before R drove us to the station to catch the train home about 12.00. It’s an odd journey, the first leg being about 90 minutes, then a wait of 30 minutes at Newark Castle for the 30 minute trip to Lincoln. The last leg is only 9 minutes, but we had a 57 minute wait in Lincoln for it. We did think that we might just get a taxi to speed up the process having paid less than £15 before Christmas, but on checking the price today we were quoted £22. Needless to say we chose to exit the station and do a bit of essential shopping and get a decent coffee. We were a bit hampered with a heavy sports bag, my puffin and birthday balloon, but managed to add the additional shopping.
The house seems so strange without Amber, she doesn’t return from her trip to the kennels until tomorrow morning. All of my clothes from the weekend have gone straight into the washing basket, as she will be most miffed to sniff the presence of kitties. She doesn’t give B the 3rd degree in the way she does me.
Lots done this evening and it’s way past my bedtime.
Thank you for all the good wishes that I have received for my birthday, I will endeavour to catch up soon. Birthdays at my age are normally low key affairs, but this one has been awesome!!!!
I’ve just added an extra photo. A lovely surprise to see the Art Deco quilt, which included William Morris design fabrics, which I made for R, was on our bed.
