MEMORIES

A day to avoid brooding at home so I spent it in Cumbria with my two youngest sisters. This is the house where our Mum was born, in the room behind the lower right-hand window, apparently. While we stood there, some sheep were driven past us and up the lane opposite (extra) and suddenly Mum's oft-repeated anecdote about her grandmother's pet parrot imitating the shepherds' whistles and causing havoc as the dogs drove the sheep in all directions at once, made perfect sense.
