Leading Lady at Heathrow, Boeing 787-9
This graceful machine carried us swiftly and safely across 6000 miles of continent and ocean from LA to London in 10 hours.
As I write G-VWOO is enroute to Washington DC. This aircraft was a replacement for the scheduled Airbus, it is smaller with fewer seats which explained the ticketing issues. We did get to sit together in the centre rows.
Smooth flight, wonderful service, very attentive, and tasty food. Not much to see even if we had had a window seat as it was dark a short time after take off and cloudy on the final descent into Heathrow with an exception over the city where we saw the Shard, the Eye and of course the Thames. The final miles were through fog so we only knew we were landing in the final few seconds.
Efficient taxi pickup saw us home by 2.00pm, 20 hours after leaving Christy and Rob’s front door in Encinitas. Quickly unpacked and out for a walk in the lovely sunshine. Seems we bought a bit of Californian sun home with us!
Already planning the next trip by which time Madison will be having her first birthday and Landon will be at school!
Thank you once again for your participation in the journal while we were there. So many wonderful memories.
