Stockport

We went to a cinema live showing of The Barber of Seville from the Royal Opera House at “the Light” in Stockport this evening, which was most enjoyable.

Stockport Town Centre is undergoing major redevelopment at present. This made it very difficult to navigate around the town, initially in the car and then, after parking in the pictured car park, to the cinema. We asked a member of the shopping centre staff for directions. He began by pointing up the road and suggesting we “walk towards Halifax.” It emerged that he meant “The Halifax” (ie Building Society) not the West Yorkshire Town which is 40 odd miles from Stockport.
