Stuff and Nonsense

Muntjac deer

Backblip

So, we arrived in Norfolk at around 4.30pm after stopping on the way near Belvoir Castle again for a long lunch at The Chequers Inn. It was a nice drive down, if a little long, but we are here and have met up with our 5 other friends for a week here at the Golf course. HPB Barnham Broom is a shared site with a golf club where we can use all the facilities and have our own little corner of the site. We have a small reception area, clubroom and 7 blocks of accommodation consisting of 39 self contained apartments overlooking the golf course and facing east which makes for nice sunrises when the sun is actually present.
There is normally plenty to see from the apartments and this time we have an even better view that is not obscured by the fence like it was last time. I'm pretty sure that the course directly in front of us is not in use this time of year as it's quite wet, or at least we didn't see anyone using it after we arrived, but the wildlife seem to enjoy it. So far I have seen 2 swans, a flock of around 100 fieldfare, pied wagtails and this little muntjac just confidently striding across the course.

In the evening we went to the local pub for their quiz night. Last year we won the overall prize, if not the 5 in a row prize, but this year we went one better and won both prizes, coming away with a prize of £58 to put towards our meal on Sunday. It was a fun night....for us at least, if not the locals. I'm sure they must be used to it though as lots of people have reported winning at least one of the prizes on our Facebook group.
After all the nice weather, it has made a turn for the worse and has started the next few days of rain already, so there may not be so much variety of birds unless I can get out. And you all know that I am very much a fair weather birder!

Apologies in advance for my possible lack of commenting whilst we are away. I will try and catch up as and when I can, or when we get back in a week.
