Samarkand Expo …

… at the Institut du Monde Arabe.

This afternoon we visited “On the Roads to Samarkand - Wonders of Silk and Gold” which featured a superb collection of gold-embroidered silk caftans worn by upper class men in what is now Uzbekistan.
Also featured were gold jewelry and hand-woven rugs. It was the first time these had ever been shown outside their country. We all enjoyed it immensely.
