Bird feeding joy.
A visit to the pond (Coppice Pond, St Ives estate) today was number one on Eda’s list of things to do at Granny’s.
Good timing too as we don’t know how much access we will get after the end of the month when the tree removal starts.
Eda carried the bird food as usual in my little over shoulder bag. She shared it with Jude and Jude made us laugh shouting ‘ducks eat my food!’, which was a little counter productive.
As usual at half term the ducks were stuffed due to so many visitors, but we managed to feed the three juvenile outcast swans before dad ploughed his way across the water to chase them away.
When most of the food was done and Eda had got a bit fed up with it Jude got to carry the bag. She was well made up - extra.
After a circuit of the pond we continued to the Ivy Kitchen. Coffee and cake for Grace and I ( one piece to share) and Magnums for the girls. It was a lovely and surprisingly fine morning out.
It was still fine after lunch so we walked up to the village park. The girls had a good time in the play area and then running around the field.
A final treat was son Alex popping in on his way home from work. Eda loves him and we had a good game of Animal or Vegetable over tea. This is a relatively new game for Eda and a current favourite. She asks very astute questions though we haven’t got around to including the mineral category yet.
We’ve packed a lot in today and had a fun time.
