Unfortunately our recent stay with the family was very short with the children at school and their parents working and they were out in the evenings. Our trip south was to see the 15 year old twins as the two leading characters in their school’s show “Anything Goes” in the local theatre.  They both had standing ovations and teachers at the school have even been sending text messages to congratulate them on their performances.  The orchestra were really good too especially a 15 year old percussionist and 17 year old flautist. The staff have been amazing in producing such a high standard of music, dancing and drama among the 70 participants and after four performances lasting till 10 o’clock they will all be relieved that they will have half term to rest now.
We returned home today stopping on the way to visit friends where we admired this unusual plant.  Originally the leaves were tightly coiled giving it the name Corkscrew Albuca or Albuca Spiralis then as the yellow flowers which look like a bit like snowdrops,  emerged from the bulb, the leaves started to uncoil. It grows in winter, blooms in spring and is dormant in summer and after looking it up online I see it is quite expensive but an attractive plant with its masses of coiled leaves
