Barry Martin

Today was the funeral of Edinburgh based firefighter Barry Martin who sadly died in the line of duty whilst attending a fire in the iconic Jenners store a few weeks ago.

There was a wonderful turnout of serving firefighters and members of the public who gathered to spend a few moments in rememberance of the fallen man.

38 years young with a wife and young family, he had only been in the job for 3 years - Tragic - and yet a reminder not only of the dangers of the job but also of the frailty of life.

A sad day indeed.
