Today's grape hyacinth is just a vehicle for telling you about the most recent developments at work.
1 – Mostly, my job involves designing subtle contours to flat roofs in order to disperse rainwater efficiently. If I am not told at the start of the project that 19 additional rainwater outlets have been proposed, then a great deal of time can be wasted while I design around the few existing outlets.
Why would anyone worth a salary of any kind imagine that I don't need to know that immediately?
2 – It seems that I was not the only person to receive an unexpected amendment to contract.
My notice period was extended to 8 weeks, others have been extended to 12 weeks and even 6 months! I drew everyone's attention to the fact that we are paid weekly and that our employers don't seem the type to want to splash money on lawyers.
Oddly, I've not seen a copy of my contract bearing my employer's signature.
Isn't a legally-binding contract a two-way thing?
