My Best Efforts - Year 3

By AMC

The First Flag Iris..........

.............three rhizomes of this iris were given to me three years ago but when I had the mains water pipe burst in the garden some time ago, I pulled them up and put them to one side and almost forgot about them. When I rediscovered them, some weeks had gone by and I felt there was little chance of them surviving let alone flowering this year. You can imagine how delighted I was so see them regrowing and about three weeks ago, thought I detected the signs of buds forming. Yesterday afternoon the buds started to open and by this afternoon were as you see them here! (the purpley leafed plant to the right is a Heuchera by the way)

Anni came over this morning for her usual 5-weekly haircut and stayed for lunch - I really look forward to her visits. Himself had a day's sea fishing yesterday ( his Birthday ) and sent over a very nice, freshly caught piece of Sea Bass which I shall have and really enjoy for lunch tomorrow - I seldom eat meat much preferring fish.

There are several Open Gardens in the County tomorrow so if the weather is anything like, I may well visit one of them. The one I would like to see the most is, of course, the furthest away so the weather is a very important factor! - fingers crossed!

Weather dull and cloudy - no sign of a glimmer of sunshine and temperature hovering only around 11 to 12 deg C.

Have a good weekend

p.s Let us all hope we have good news regarding AnnieBScotland over the next few days - am sure we are all wishing her the very, very best for a speedy recovery.
