Nicola Sturgeon Resigns!!

This was quite a shock to everyone. Despite having very divisive politics, she has been a very respected and able leader. 

She says she has been grappling with the idea for a while now and it seems she has run out of drive for the cause of independence for Scotland. Perhaps it is observing the many problems that Brexit has caused and the damage it has done to the economy, particularly issues with the Northern Ireland Protocol that has made her realise how big a task sorting out a newly independent Scotland would be. Presumably she has sat down and planned out all the issues that would need to be resolved. Way harder than Brexit, negotiations would go on for years and years before a deal was finally agreed. And then maybe for several years more for a deal to re-enter the EU. And during that time the uncertainty would kill almost all investment in Scotland. And all that work could only begin after a hugely divisive second referendum.

Perhaps Boris Johnson was the number one most convincing argument for Independence. But now he is gone and hopefully there will be a Labour government coming to Westminster next year.
