Dublin Street Lane North
With 'er indoors safely despatched to Newcastle to get a flight from Manchester bound for Marrakech, I set about keeping the home fires burning with dog walking and Cigs hunting high on the list of my priorities for the weekend. Well, I'd already foregone a trip to Galabank, so I felt justified in the self indulgence.
Talking of self indulgence it seemed rude not to drop by the Fruitmarket Gallery's annual Artist's Bookmarket. Amongst the bounty was Pure Dead Modern by Dave Lowe; a celebration of Edinburgh's post war architecture. From there I took the dog on a meandering walk to the Cowgate, New Street, Calton Road, Elder Street, York Place, Albany Street and Barony Street before sneaking through Broughton Market.
Imagine my surprise when I spotted a previously overlooked Cigs that had been scratched onto a telecoms box! (I reckon if it had been paint of pen it would have been buffed ling since, but such is the life of an ephemiral artform). I wonder if the lad himself was lying down when he did this, given the direction its been written in.
Shortly afterwards I received news that Blair Currie had been sent off. I consoled myself with a splosh through soggy Inverleith Park during which time Ross McGeachie restored parity. Only 3 points behind with a game in hand. But I digress. Only 13 months til the 10th anniversary Cigs exhibition kicks off. Blippers will get 50% off the free tickets.
With the other 'alf out of the country, do you think I could get two Cigs blips in two days?
The laddie was recycling his Friday night dinner party empties. A fine albarino, some rather decent looking rioja and a frankly disappointing malt whisky night cap choice.
