Sisters
We met up with our niece and her family as well as Jon's brother (the grandpa) for Lily's birthday in Raleigh. She turned 15 today - who remembers that far back? Lily picked the lunch spot (the Food Hall) and then we walked to an art museum. After that we went to a small artisan chocolate factory for a treat and more chatting. She went shopping at Urban Outfitters and we headed home. UO was a favorite of Sumner's when she lived in Boston - she was great at finding treasures in the bargain aisles. That was a trip down memory lane, I didn't want to experience, but it was a fun afternoon and so glad we could join them on a brisk but sunny day. Came home to go out later to a movie/play called Out of the Silence. It was interesting how they played and showed it - it took place in a large auditorium but the audience was seated up on the stage and the actors performed in front of them. As they described it: "A deep dive into the wide spectrum of reasons abortion access is necessary. Out of Silence is about how the power of choice transforms individuals." I feel like Lily is coming of age - she has strong opinions, opinions that are preceded by thoughtful examination and high goals and I hope she will always have the freedom to make her dreams come true.
