Loch an Eilein Castle

Fantastic morning and lunchtime walk in RSPB’s Abernethy Forest taking in Loch Garten and Loch Mallachie. Then a side trip to 12th Century Castle Roy, inspiringly thriving due to the active Trust. Couldn’t resist a third walk, a circular this time around Loch an Eilein. Gorgeous forest walk round the privately owned Estate with a castle just out of reach on an island. Once possibly accessible by a causeway but the Loch level was raised & it now has safe haven away from tourist boots.
