Blackwell Arts and Crafts House
Today we visited Blackwell, a house designed by Mackay Hugh Baillie Scott in 1898. This is one of the arts and crafts fireplaces, flanked by a flower art installation by Amy Williams. In the extra photos are some of the wallpaper and furniture from the house, including a rare ‘Manxman’ piano designed by Baillie Scott.
In the afternoon, we stopped on the banks of Lake Windermere and visited some architecture from over 1700 years earlier than Blackwell - the remains of Galava Roman fort at Ambleside from the 2nd century AD.
