Bridge on the River Why?

had a walking meeting near Doune Castle with a local colleague - rather than via the ubiquitous MS Teams - and was shown this new bridge. Loved the design but couldn’t quite work out why folk would be crossing there, when there’s another bridge 100 yards away! 

Off I wandered, whistling to myself….
