Bark For Life
'Bark for Life' to benefit cancer fund.
Today you and your dog could help fight cancer together by participating in the American Cancer Society fundraiser Bark for Life.
This event is a non-competitive walk at Meadowbrook Park, 2808 Race St., U, with contests, demonstrations and other activities for dogs and their people.
Activities will include a doggie costume contest, a "musical sit" contest, a photo booth, a police K-9 demonstration, raffles, food and pet items for sale, plus "lots of freebies" given away, said Lauren Morenz, the event's co-chairwoman.
The 1-mile walk through the park will took place at 11 a.m. today.
All proceeds will go to Champaign County's Relay for Life, a major cancer society fundraiser set for June 8-9 at Champaign Centennial High School, she said.
"This is a final big push for the Relay," Morenz said.
Bark for Life also honors dogs for the emotional support and comfort they offer cancer patients and their families, according to the cancer society.
Didn't have a dog? Didn't matter everyone was invited, with or without a dog, to walk and watch the contests and activities.
