A Suffolk Eye

Shingle Street

This is the thin white line of Shingle Street.

Shingle Street?

Shingle Street is a little hamlet on the Suffolk coast where nothing much has happened for milliennia except wartime rumours which might just have been Allied propaganda .

More recently (Oct 2004) a report suggested that the little row of fisherman's cottages is at risk from the sea and could disappear within 20 years of that date if sea defences were not erected. So maybe Shingle Street onlyhas another 11 years..

Which would be a shame for the little artist's colony - one of whose colonists must be responsible for the thin white line of seashells that snakes so beautifully towards the sea..
