Day Trip to Carlisle

Up at silly o’clock this morning to catch the 7:00am Midland Pullman to Carlisle. Just had a four course breakfast and now settling down for the morning. We arrive at 12:30 and leave just under 3 hours later. Back on Pullman Train for a 5 course meal on the journey back. We decided to treat ourselves to this just before Christmas.

Interesting history around the Pullman Services. Originally aimed at top class business travel with two engines, two catering carriages and only two first class passenger compartments.

I don’t think any of the Pullman stock made its way into preservation when it was removed from service.
