Inscrutable

One of the Sphinxes on the rear steps at Croome today.

A half term meet up with our daughter and her family.
They built a fine den with our SiL in the natural play area.
I had one of our usual intense conversations with James as we walked back up the hill.  I explained a little about the time the house was built and re-modelled, which prompted James to work out which king was on the throne around then.  Cue a discussion on Charles 1st & 2nd, James 2nd, Mary & William.  Difficult to explain to someone only 10 without adding in my opinion - the sphinx might have done a better job.
