The "Anti-Christ". Leitz Summitar 50mm
I discovered this wonderful old Land Rover lurking in a driveway in our neighborhood, and today was my chance to photograph it. As best as I can tell from a little Wiki research, this is a Short-Wheel-Base, Series II vehicle, in production from 1958-1961, or a IIA. For those of you who saw the 1980-vintage South African movie, The Gods Must Be Crazy, there was just such a Land Rover, named The Anti-Christ - I suspect it's South African humor. It had no brakes, and the driver had to stick his foot out the door, and drag it on the ground in an effort to slow the vehicle down. The Anti-Christ even managed to winch itself up a tree when left unattended... I couldn't pass this one up. And as if all that is not enough, I noticed during post-processing that the famous Land Rover insignia is upside-down! Clearly, it must be from the Southern Hemisphere...
