Smile on!

Inevitable

The inevitable has happened - our rambunctious little A wound up in the ER with a gaping wound after she bumped her head.

What surprised me was that she was remarkably calm and still for the 3 hours we waited at the hospital. In my head I'd pictured a terrified, cranky little A who would cry inconsolably and attract all kinds of annoyed glares. Instead, she laid calmly in daddy's arms for the most part, or she would quietly entertain herself with the ipad. Not that we usually let her play on the ipad that long, but desperate situations calls for desperate measures, and I would argue that it's indeed a desperate situation. She was so quiet you wouldn't even realize there's an injured toddler in the room.

But when it came time to do the stitches, she fought back with all her might. It took 3 of us to hold her down while the doctor sew her up. When the needle went through her skin, I let out an "ouch!!". The nurse was quick to assure me that it won't hurt her because of the numbing cream they applied. I said, no, she kicked my ribcage hard and it's me that's hurting!

Three stitches later, the drama is finally over. After the blood stains are washed off, I started to worry about scars...poor baby!
