Day out....

...followed by an evening out, not often that happens. During the day Kath and I drove over to Barnard Castle to take lots of good to the charity shops there. Our recycle shop at the village is full to overflowing! We obviously don't get the footfall of a town shop, so we moved on some things that will have much more chance of finding a new home. It took us most of the day which included a leisurely walk round the town after offloading, browsing those charity shops ourselves and doing some other essential shopping. It also included a lunch stop for a break. While we were out we had a call from another friend who asked if the large table at our shop was for sale. We use it to display crockery but it is a really nice dining table, very sturdy and in good condition. We did um and aah a bit but decided we were happy to see it go to a good home. When we got back we popped into the shop to see what it was like without the table and where they had relocated all the things on it. We were taken aback as apparently the young woman is furnishing a local estate rental for new people. Not only was the table gone but several chairs, cupboards, cabinets, crockery and cutlery. They had left the space very tidy and it looked so spacious! They made a generous donation of £100 and were delighted with their treasure! That was definitely an unexpected turn to the day.
In the evening there was a gathering of twenty locals to enjoy a curry night at the village hall. A private function of good friends and curry fetched from Stanhope. Phil had coordinated it all on our group messenger. We had sent screenshots to him, over the last week or so, of our orders and he then ordered them at the Indian. The curry house had sorted them into separate numbered orders and they were all bagged up on collection. Not one mistake, everyone got exactly what they ordered. A great night with good friends ending with a game of Articulate, much fun and laughter. It wasn't a late night but I needed a couple of hours after coming home to digest all that food, so I watched the last episode of Death in Paradise to finish of a great day.
Grateful:
For charity shops doing a splendid job
For a chatty day with a lovely friend
For a fun evening with more friends
