On the road
I have been on the road all week and helping Helen with orders in between.Today has been Shropshire and we have four orders in for tomorrow. It is great to be busy selling but we are getting behind with the potting.
Shortages of fresh fruit and veg in the supermarkets and politicians waking up to the fact that there isn't much in the way of home produced salads now.Not a surprise to anyone left in the industry. We haven't had college courses to train professional horticulturalists for a few decades and no way into the industry for those that would like to set up for themselves as there was when my wife and I both left college. At one time it was possible to rent council owned small holdings and make a start.A friend of mine has just built a four acre block of glass along with a packing shed (no living accommodation) cost just over six million pounds so it isn't difficult to see why there are no new start ups.
In the picture is Dippy who plays a major part in our integrated pest management plan and biological control.
