A Path called Strait

Oh, the complexities of language. When I came across this street sign in Gardenstown, a highly religious fishing village, I immediately thought that it was a take on the biblical reference to the Street called Straight in Damascus, Syria.

Having looked at the Scots dictionary I now know that strait when applied to a thoroughfare means narrow, or steep, not straight. The path in Gardenstown is both very narrow and very steep; perhaps it would be better named Strait, Strait Path?
