Catkins

The Hazel catkins are showing well now. The Hazel trees are wind pollinated, which I guess is useful when you flower in early January! 
These male flowers open up to produce huge amounts of pollen to fly on the wind to the female flowers.
Always a nice herald of spring to see though.
