Davistown Ferry

The first ferry service on Brisbane Water was the Pioneer Ferry Service, established in 1905 by the Sisters of St Joseph to transport patrons and visitors to the Kincumber Orphanage. A little later, in 1921, the Kincumber Growers’ Cooperative established the Kincumber Growers’ Ferry to assist farmers in getting their produce to market. That operated until 1944.

This ferry stop is about 1km from our house. The ferries run between Empire Bay and Woy Woy, where they connect with the railway to Sydney. On our list of priorities is a ferry trip to Woy Woy for fish ‘n’ chips.
