MacBeth’s Stone?

It is just behind my house. You can park your car here and just walk round to the back.

We did as the lady suggested and today’s Blipfoto shows MacBeth’s Stone. Pat is examining the surface and she gives an idea of just how big this particular stone is.

The house is the West Gate Lodge to the Belmont Estate which is to the southwest of Meigle.

MacBeth’s Stone is the name given on the Ordnance Survey Map. Our understanding is that this is the place where MacBeth is buried. We need to research this further.

After a very tasty lunch in Meigle at The Joinery Coffee Shop we continued today’s adventure  around the Perthshire Countryside.

We passed through Dunkeld, already very busy with tourists. Avoiding the A9 we headed further west and spotted another two ‘standing stones’  near Muirheadston. Again these are marked on the Ordnance Survey Map.

However, we can find no information on these. ‘I hae ma doots’. More research is required.

We then made our way home, admiring the countryside and the remarkable sky shapes with many shafts of sunbeams.
