Sparrowhawk #29

Until this visitor arrived in our garden this afternoon for a brief rest on the fence, today's blip was going to be a picture of the pavlova I made this morning for my Dad's birthday. It's not his actual birthday until Wednesday, but we will get together for our usual fortnightly Sunday meal with the family, so it seemed like a good time to make a nice dessert rather than the supermarket offerings we normally have. 

I was sitting reading on the sofa when I saw movement out of the corner of my eye and looked up to see the back end of a large bird float past the window. I didn't see if it had landed from where I was sitting but asked if my hubby could see from where he was. Yes, she had landed on the fence, so out of sight I quickly sneaked across the room to grab my camera and then took a couple of shots though the window. She soon spotted us watching and was off, but what a bird, and what a look she gave us! :)
