Walk
И and her boyfriend A picked me up after I'd checked out of my apartment. First we drove to the Boyana Church, a UNESCO world heritage site that they'd never visited. There we wandered the grounds briefly, and I took its Turf zone.
Then we drove up to Bistritsa for a three-hour walk in the forest. Although not at their best in February, it was typical of the beautiful Bulgarian forests: open, with a great variety of broadleaf and coniferous trees. All very pleasant and, at last, a chance to spend time with A, who is very shy with new people.
Hungry, we drove to Raketa Rakia - yes, where I ate last night! - and refuelled on its simple tasty food. Now I'm sitting in И's flat, where she's packed to fly back to Edinburgh with me, and sharing a final cigarette with A before he drives us to the airport.
