The lace makers
I stumbled upon the lace makers today in L'Escala. There must have been a hundred or so of them working at trestle tables the length of a side street leading to the seafront. Whether it was a club celebration or a usual Sunday activity, I could not tell and , as I do not speak Catalan, I could not ask. The intricacy of their work was amazing.
Mass in Catalan was pretty incomprehensible except that you know what the words are anyway. During the sermon it was interesting to study the prayers in Castillian Spanish and Catalan and see how much the language is a blend of French and Spanish, quite comprehensible when read but the pronunciation makes it difficult for me to follow when spoken.
