Tighnabruaich
Friday 17th
This is our last full day here at Ardlamont and the sun is shining and the sky is blue.
We had our breakfast out in the garden to make the best of the lovely weather.
Took the car into Tighnabruaich parked at Suzy's tearoom and had a leisurely stroll along the seafront in the direction of the boatyard. This shot caught my eye as it seems such a typical scene at Tighnabruaich.
We stopped at the pier at Tighnabruaich for a quick photo stop. Beachcomber 149 quickly drew my attention to something in the water very near the pier, it was an otter ! What a surprise as I have never seen one this close. Previously we had spotted otters at the north end of Arran but to see one here in Tighnabruaich was such a lovely surprise.
It was noticeably busier today in the village perhaps some folk had come down for the weekend to their holiday homes.
We decided to book a table at the Wellpark Hotel for dinner this evening.
Went back to the Barn at Millhouse for lunch as we had had such a lovely lunch there yesterday.
After lunch we stopped at Duncan Stores to get some gingerbeer and some treats for the afternoon as we planned to sit out in the garden as the weather was still fine.
On the way back to the cottage we parked the car at the gunpowder pier and walked along to Blair's Ferry to have a look around the three little cottages which are still there.
We have been told that in times gone past instead of bodies being buried at Kames and Blair's Ferry, where the ground is very rocky, some were transported across the narrow stretch of water to Bute and buried there where the ground was easier to dig. I shall have to investigate this further as part of my family tree research.
We are now back at the cottage and I'm looking forward to my gingerbeer and treats.
I shall be sad to say goodbye to this lovely little corner of Scotland tomorrow.
