Aurora

Think most of the UK experienced the northern lights tonight (am sure there are many blips) - was quite extraordinary.  We don't usually see them in Tobermory as there is too much light pollution.  After hearing they were making an appearance we drove up to the Guailne Dubh to see what we could see.  Quite a few other people had the same idea so didn't stay long (see extra).  Got a better result from the bedroom window.  Must remember to use a tripod next time.  With the naked eye you see a strange moving haziness with a faint tinge of green but the camera picks up something else - I don't even begin to understand the physics of it.
