South Stack Lighthouse

Trip to south stack lighthouse today where there is an RSPB site. I remembered coming with my mum and dad and auntie Connie about 15 years ago and walking along a fairly level path which would have been correct if we had walked from Holyhead breakwater however today we were at the top of the cliff looking down at the lighthouse. We wandered down the path to look at the birds on the cliff, many guillemot and razorbills at the moment but I watched as two black birds peeled off the cliff and flew towards us. Sadly my phone was not out otherwise you could have had a picture of two choughs wheeling!
As we walked down to view the birds Helen lost an earring which was upsetting. When we got back up we went into the cafe to have a bite t o eat and a coffee and she reported it to the staff just in case anyone found it! Amazingly just as we left someone handed it in! Lucky indeed!

My friends, Julie and Mike invited us out for dinner this evening and we had a very good meal and then went back to their apartment and had semlor and watched Casablanca which I had seen before as had Mike but the other two hadn’t . I was amazed to discover that it had been filmed in 1943 before the end of the war and won best picture which didn’t amaze me! Black and white film and no cgi! They don’t make them like that any more or not after! It’s now late so I will catch up with your blips tomorrow!

Extras: birds on the cliff face,
A raven collecting wool for its nest with its mate, and cheekily taking wool from the sheep itself! There is one pair of ravens there!
The cliffs at some stack showing the horizontal and vertical layers side by side! Was going to go to a geological talk about anglesey this evening but it was cancelled due tithe professor having covid!
